Wayne County is open and ready to welcome visitors as our communities move forward and begin the next chapter of our comeback story.
Richmond and Wayne County, Indiana, are welcoming visitors back following the historic 100-year flood that impacted communities across the county on August 12, 2026. Destinations in Richmond and Centerville are fully open, while Cambridge City and Hagerstown continue making significant progress toward full recovery.
Across the county, shops, restaurants, attractions, museums, and accommodations are welcoming guests. “We’re excited to see our communities moving forward and our businesses welcoming visitors again,” said Mary Walker, Executive Director of the Wayne County Convention & Tourism Bureau. “There is so much to experience throughout Wayne County, and right now, every visit means a great deal to the people and places who call Wayne County home.”

As Wayne County’s story continues, tourism plays an important role in the recovery. A day trip, weekend getaway, or extended stay offers a chance to experience the destination while supporting the county. Visitors can treasure hunt along Indiana’s Antique Alley, savor their way through the Chocolate Trail, discover distinctive museums and attractions, dine at locally owned restaurants, explore outdoor recreation, and experience the charming hometowns found throughout Wayne County.
Every meal enjoyed, shop explored, attraction visited, and overnight stay helps strengthen the local economy and the places that make Richmond and Wayne County a fun and memorable destination.
