On May 19-20, Corydon will proudly welcome the Annual Run for the Wall ride as it passes through Harrison County during its ten-day journey to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C.
Founded in 1989 by Vietnam veterans James Gregory and Bill Evans, Run for the Wall is a cross-country motorcycle ride with a powerful mission: to honor the sacrifices of military personnel, raise awareness for prisoners of war and those missing in action, and promote healing among veterans and their families. The riders will join more than 1,000 fellow participants in Washington, D.C., culminating in a series of memorial events to pay tribute to fallen comrades and demonstrate national solidarity.
Residents and visitors are encouraged to line Capitol Avenue in downtown Corydon on May 19 to show their support and patriotism. The motorcycle procession, escorted by the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department, is expected to arrive around 5:30 p.m.
The Harrison County Convention & Visitors Bureau, in partnership with local veterans’ organizations, will extend a warm welcome to the riders during their overnight stay. A grab-and-go breakfast will be provided for participants on the morning of May 20 as they continue
their heartfelt journey eastward.
